The entry of a PFA order should not be taken lightly
First, a PFA order prohibits you from having any contact with the subject of the PFA order. So any incidental or accidental contact you may have with your former wife or girlfriend could potentially open you up to criminal liability.
Second, a PFA order prohibits you from possessing a gun or firearm. If you use a gun or firearm to hunt, or for self-protection, or possess a family heirloom, or simply like to collect various guns or firearms, you will be required to turn them over to someone else for safe-keeping while the PFA order is in place. Any possession of a firearm while you are subject to a PFA order will open you up to criminal liability.
Finally, a PFA order may affect your employment and almost certainly will effect future employment opportunities. You should consult an attorney before you agree to be subject to a PFA order.
